Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Lake Perry Lot Owners Association will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Hall in Perryville. At this time two trustees will be elected for three-year terms. The terms of Sheila Caskey and Douglas Leslie are expiring. The nominations committee has nominated Sheila Caskey and Bill Logan for election. As usual, Rich DeWilde will present an annual report at the meeting as well as the treasurer's report and budget for the coming year.
New Guidelines/Policies
The Board of Trustees has adopted several new policies and guidelines related to the pool and/or restaurant. They are as follows:
1. For the protection of all pool users, toddlers are required to wear swim diapers. A small quantity of swim diapers will be available for purchase at the restaurant.
2. Drinks, other than water, are prohibited on the pool deck.
3. On weekends, lot owners need to limit the number of guests using the pool to allow other lot owners and their families to enjoy the use of the facility.
4. The two picnic tables nearest the door to the restaurant are reserved for restaurant use. Lot owners who bring their own food are welcome to use the other tables, the pavilion or one of the picnic areas.
Recycling
The board has decided to give recycling a try. We are presently paying $500-600 a month for trash service and would like to try to cut back on the number of dumpsters or pick-ups by recycling as much as possible. In the very near future, recycling bins will be placed by the main gate dumpsters and recycling totes will be available to lot owners. Please watch the bulletin board outside the main gate for information. Shirley Pelker has agreed to head up this effort and she will be seeking volunteers to help. It will take a little thought to keep the recyclables separated, but in the long run, it will be worth it for both the environment and our community.
Fishing Tournaments
The spring fishing tournaments are scheduled for Sunday, April 20th and Sunday, May 18th, from 6 am to noon. Sign up will start at 5:30 am at the activities center. Call Harold Unterreiner at 573-547-2913 for more information.
Lake Perry Blue Truck for Sale
The board has purchased a "new" used truck for the maintenance staff. The blue truck that they have been using is for sale and the board would like to give the first opportunity for purchase to lot owners. The truck has a new transmission and has also had a brake job. The truck can be seen at the front gate parking lot or contact Pat Heaps if you want to take a test drive. Bids will be due to Rich DeWilde by no later than 5 pm on April 4th. The minimum acceptable bid is $2500.
Restaurant
Kandye Mahurin has agreed to continue as our restaurant manager. As usual, the facility will open Memorial Day weekend. We all look forward to Kandye's really good food! Hours will be posted on the main gate bulletin board and at the restaurant. Lot owners are asked to remember that the board is operating the restaurant for the convenience and enjoyment of lot owners, with a goal to at least break even on the operating costs. For that reason, if a lot owner indicates to staff that a large number of guests are coming for the breakfast buffet, please show up. We had more than one occasion last summer where food was prepared for a group that turned out to be "no-shows". For the same reason, it is not possible to "gift" lot owners with condiments, napkins, buns, plates, cup, etc. for their personal picnics. These items can be purchased at the convenience store across from the gate.
Pool
When the pool opens on Memorial Day weekend, there will be several changes that lot owners will notice. Diving off the deck will not be permitted as the water level will not allow safe diving. New fencing has been ordered and will be installed around the pool. For this summer, Buddy Mahurin has been employed as our pool manager and will be responsible for maintenance as well as enforcing pool rules when he is on duty. Please give Buddy your full cooperation as we seek to create a safe and enjoyable venue for all lot owners.
Building Permits
At the 2007 annual meeting, it was reported that as of Fall 2006, there were 124 residences (not counting mobile homes and camping trailers) at Lake Perry. During 2007, 59 building permits were issued. Seven of these were for houses, sixteen for boat docks, three for detached garages and the remainder for everything from landscaping to storage sheds.
This and That
Many maintenance items have been addressed over the winter. The playground equipment by the west gate has been repaired and repainted. (We are still raising funds to add a new piece to that area. If you want to donate, contact Barb Zieba or Lo Sims). New buoys have been ordered for the lake. The gates have been or are in the process of being repainted. The boat ramp dock by the spillway has been repaired.
Lot owners who have registered a boat with the association and received a boat decal need to affix the decal to the left rear of their boats. Use of the lake is restricted to boats owned, insured and registered by lot owners.
Car decals have been issued to all who have paid their assessment and should be affixed to the driver's side windshield of each vehicle. The purpose of a gated community is to restrict access to those who have a legitimate reason to be on the grounds. Please help security out this summer by using your vehicle decals so they can distinguish between lot owners and guests.
A new boat trailer parking area has been established near the west gate. The area is where the former children's fishing pond was at the intersection of plats one and three. The old area near the gate will be used to expand the dumpster area.
Maintenance
staff are preparing a new docking area by the pool and recreation building
for the convenience of lot owners who wish to park their boats while swimming
or eating at the restaurant. This area may not be used for overnight or extended
boat parking.
