Lake Perry Newsletter Winter 2009

Chili Cook-Off

The annual Chili Cook-Off held in October was a resounding success with 21 pots of chili entered and many items for the dessert auction. Thanks to all who made chili as well as the generous lot owners who contributed hot dogs, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Winners of the cook-off were Kathy Hayden 1st place, Diana Nilhas 2nd place, and Theresa Miller 3rd place. The event raised over $900 which will be used to purchase playground equipment. Thanks also to Mark Deline for donating the beer cups, Barb Zieba for the quilt, Pat Heaps and Bob Welden for the hayrides, Syl Bierman for his auctioneer skills, and Stixx & Pixx for providing the music.

Assessments
By now, lot owners have received the invoice for the 2010 assessments. The Board of Trustees regrets the need to increase the assessment. However, lot owners have made it very clear to board members that they desire enhancements in three areas. These are security, the restaurant, and the pursuit of restriction violators. To do so and pay off the note for the paving requires increased revenue. Other means to increasing revenues include board members calling those with past due assessments prior to placing liens on their property in hopes that some will elect to pay the bills
.

Missouri Stream Team
Debbie Trautman is a member of the Missouri Stream Team whose goal is to keep Missouri waters clean. Debbie would like to invite other Lake Perry lot owners to join her in picking up litter from the lake and its shore. She has also submitted an application for mono-filament recycling bins to put around the lake. Anyone interested in getting involved in this worthy effort can contact Debbie at 573-339-9776.

Key Cards and Gate Codes
The key readers and remote gate codes will be changed on February 1st. The new remote code will be sent to lot owners who indicated they need the code and who have paid their assessment. Lot owners with paid assessments who paid the mailing fee will receive new gate cards, car decals and boat decals in the mail. Persons who did not pay the mailing fee may pick up their cards and decals up at the association office at 1300 Brenda in Perryville.

New Board Member
As noted in the fall newsletter, Bill Logan resigned from the Board of Trustees and needed to be replaced for the remainder of his term. Several individuals expressed interest in serving and the board interviewed three persons. Tom Murphy was selected to complete the term which runs to 2011.

This and That
The boat sticker form this year is revised to include your state boat registration number. Please look on your boat and jot down your MO or IL boat number on the form. Include the two letters and numbers as they appear on your boat.

Now that leaves have fallen, lot owners are asked to clean out their culverts so that rain water can flow through.

Winter is quickly approaching. Be sure you have winterized your pumps on your lot by plugging in your heat tape or whatever method you use to protect them from the cold.

The gate in the spillway will be closed January 2nd to allow the lake to refill.

The board is still seeking someone to run the restaurant, summer 2010. Several persons have been interviewed but a final decision has not been made. The plan will be to be open on weekends with meals served on at least Friday evenings and hopefully breakfast on Sunday. If any lot owner is interested in running the restaurant, or knows someone with experience that can be recommended, please contact Rich DeWilde or any board member.
