Annual Meeting
The annual lot owners' meeting will be held on April 25th at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Perryville. In addition to the usual budget and annual report information, two persons will be elected to the Board of Trustees. Anyone interested in being considered for nomination by the board must submit a resume and letter of interest to Mark Deline or Bob Pelker. The letter and resume should be sent to the office at 1300 Brenda Ave, Perryville, Mo 63775. All applications need to be received by no later than April 1st. The nominating committee will recommend a slate to the board which will then be presented to lot owners at the annual meeting.
Security
The Board of Trustees has awarded a contract to Security Services of America to provide weekend and holiday security to the Lake Perry community for the coming summer. Security will be posted at the East and West gates, and at Tanglewood. There will also be water patrol during holiday weekends. Security will be instructed to allow vehicles with the Lake Perry decal affixed to the windshield to move on through the gates. If no decal is present, the vehicle will be stopped to verify lot ownership with paid assessment or name on a guest list. To assist the guards in getting to know lot owners, if you have a decal, please take a minute to pause and acknowledge the guard. If a lot owner needs to contact security please call at 547-9000.
Shoreline Policy
The board has adopted a policy for improvements to shoreline property which reads as follows: On certain lake fronting lots, the property between the lake and the platted lots was deeded to the Perry County Land Company, Inc, which is the official corporate entity of the Lake Perry Lot Owner's Association. In order to allow lot owners to build a boat dock or mooring area, the Board of Trustees has developed a policy and procedures necessary to grant licenses for the use of this property. Once the license is granted (in the form of a building permit) the lot owner assumes full responsibility for the maintenance of any structures and/or improvements to the shore line. The full text of the policy can be found in the Lake Perry Guidelines.
Camping Permits
Camping in Plats one and two, which are defined as residential plats, is allowed only by permit and under terms and conditions set by the Board of Trustees. Beginning January 1, 2010, lot owners wishing to camp on their lot in plats one and two will need to complete a Camping Permit Application which sets forth the stipulations for obtaining a permit. Those owners who complete the application and agree to the stipulations can obtain permits from the office, through fax or e-mail or from the security personnel. Camping in these plats without a permit is specifically prohibited by the restrictions.
Boat Decals
The purpose of providing boat decals to lot owners is to ensure that all boats on the lake are owned by a lot owner and have insurance. Each summer the community has an issue with boat owners who do not affix the decal to their boat. The sticker needs to be placed on the port (left) side of the boat, toward the rear and above the water line. The Board of Trustees has adopted the following policy to deal with this issue: The Board of Trustees, Security staff and other employees of the Lot Owner's Association reserve the right to inspect boats on the lake and to ask boats to leave the lake if a decal is not affixed to the boat. Moreover, security has the right to deny entrance to the property to any boat without a current decal affixed to the boat. This year, security will also be matching decals to the boat registration on file with the office to assure that the decal is placed on the registered boat.
Restaurant
The board is working on an upgrade to our restaurant offerings for the coming summer by contracting for services with the Spillway ownership. The plan, to date, is to offer a plate meal on Friday nights along with beer and wine, and concession food during the day on Friday, Saturday, and until mid-day on Sunday. Hours of operation, meal offerings, and other details will be available at the annual meeting.
Recycling
The recycling area has again been enhanced. We now have a white trailer for recycling cardboard. It has a partition to separate corrugated cardboard from pasteboard and an outside door to each compartment. Cardboard goes in the rear, pasteboard in the front. Please flatten all items. If you have trouble distinguishing between pasteboard and cardboard look at the edge. Cardboard has cells and pasteboard (such as a cereal box) is smooth. We also have new containers for glass. All this was accomplished through participating in a grant with the Perry County Recycling Center. Funds were provided by a generous lot owner and an allocation from the Board of Trustees. Thanks to Shirley Pelker for her work in obtaining the grant and matching funds.
This and That
Lot owners with paid assessments who asked to have key cards mailed and included the $5 handling fee with their assessment should have received their key cards by now. If you have requested and sent the fee but not received the cards please call Tina at the office (573-547-6596).
The board is in the process of filing liens against lot owners who have not paid their assessments.
The board has adopted a policy requiring a Performance Bond when a contractor needs to cut across a paved or gravel street to install utilities. Details as to cost will be published in the near future.
Playground equipment has been purchased and will be placed at the West Gate playground when the weather permits.
The association has several lots for sale. Please call the office if you are interested or know someone who is interested in purchasing at Lake Perry.
