Lake Perry Newsletter Summer 2010

Board of Trustees Election
Two new members were elected to the Board of Trustees at the annual meeting on April 25th. Syl Biermann and Diane Murray were each elected to three-year terms. At its May 12th meeting, the board elected its officers for the next twelve months. Rich DeWilde will continue to serve as board President with Bob Pelker serving as Vice-President and Diane Murray as Secretary-Treasurer.

Security
As previously announced, the board has employed Security Services of America to provide lake security between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. The security officers have been instructed to approach every car entering Lake Perry. If the car has a Lake Perry decal attached to the windshield, the car will be waved through. If no decal is present the car will be stopped and lot ownership or guest registration will be verified. If lot owners wish security to allow guests onto the property, a dated list with guest names must be delivered to the mailbox by the security office window or by personally delivering the list to the officer on duty. There will be officers on duty at the Main gate, West gate and Tanglewood gate. The list must include the lot owner's lot address and signature. Lot owners may not furnish guest lists over the phone. If an unannounced guest arrives at a gate, the security officer will check to see if the lot owner is on the premises. The lot owner will be required to come to the gate to receive the guest. If the lot owner is not available, the security officer will deny access. Lot owners may furnish security with a permanent guest list for immediate family members such as adult children or parents.

Restaurant
The Board of Trustees has contracted with The Spillway to provide restaurant services this summer. The restaurant will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (check bulletin boards and the facility for hours). The plan is to offer plate meals on Friday evenings and breakfast on Sunday mornings. Other times, the usual fast food will be available (burgers, fries, sandwiches, snacks, etc.) Beer, wine and cocktails will also be available. The facility has received a facelift thanks to a group of hard working volunteers. If we wish to continue offering a restaurant in the summer, lot owners need to show their support with their patronage. As a reminder, please do not enter the restaurant with your own beverages. All food and drink inside the building and on the back patio must be purchased on site. The board would like to thank the following individuals who gave of their time and talents to give the restaurant a make-over:

Lynn Argurieo Tom Murphy
Syl & Judy Biermann Jim Runge
Rich DeWilde Bob & Shirley Pelker
John & Michelle Gebert Don & Marge Peters
Rick Hayden Sam Taylor
Bill Logan Harold & Velda Unterreiner
Bobby Welden

Special thanks also go to the following families who graciously donated money to purchase new picnic tables;

The DeLine family The Pearson family
The DeWilde family The Pelker family
The Murphy family The VanBree family

Thanks to Mike Warren for the new Lake Perry café signs.

Pool Reminders
The pool will open on Memorial Day weekend. Pool use is restricted to lot owners who have paid their annual assessment and their guests. Property owners must accompany their guests to the pool. Please remember to read the posted regulations which are designed to provide a safe and clean environment for all users. In particular, toddlers are required to wear swim diapers which are the safest barrier between children and the water. No food or drink (except water) is allowed on the pool deck. Please feel free to use the pavilion as a place to enjoy any food and drink you bring with you. The pool deck is also a smoke-free zone.

Camping in Plats One and Two
There continues to be some confusion regarding the restrictions and guidelines as they relate to camping in plats one and two. The restriction language as related to residential lots is as follows: Camping Units used for camping, recreation or semi-permanent residency are expressly prohibited, except with regard to Residential lots located in Port Perry Subdivision No 1 and Port Perry Subdivision No. 2, wherein temporary camping may be allowed by permit only upon such terms and conditions to be determined by PPLC(i.e. board of trustees) in its sole and absolute discretion from time to time. (Third Amended and Restated General Scheme of Restrictions for Port Perry, Page 5)
The terms and conditions for the permits state that lot owners may obtain a camping permit for three days, four days on holiday weekends, or once a year for 10 days. The three day permits are available weekly and require only that the lot owner display the permit so it can be seen from the road and that the camping unit is removed at the end of the permit period.

Recycling Running Smoothly
Five tons--is that all there is? Recycling at Lake Perry is smooth and steady at about 5 tons of material a year, but much more still goes in the trash dumpsters. Please review the information about trash and recycling on our web site at www.lakeperry.com and do your part to keep cardboard, glass, plastic, tin cans, paper, aluminum and much more out of the trash. In the new trailer for cardboard and pasteboard, we still need to flatten everything; but, at this point, Perry County Recycling is telling us that we do not have to separate them from each other.
Electronics, appliances, metal and useful household goods don't need to go in the trash either. On June 5 Perry County is hosting its second Electronics and Appliance Recycling Fair from 9:00-5:00 at Rozier's Food Centre in Perryville. Metal is collected at our maintenance yard. Household goods can go to the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Details about all of these are on the Lake Perry web site, or you can contact Shirley Pelker at 573-547-7648 or shirley.pelker@gmail.com.

This and That
The brush pile that was established to assist lot owners with storm clean-up is now closed. Lately, it has become a dump site for all kinds of materials other than brush. Signs will be placed reminding lot owners that there is no dumping allowed at that site.

Thanks to Mike Warren for refreshing the sign at the front gate. Looks great!

Letters have been sent to a dozen lot owners who are in violation of the restrictions asking that they address the situation within 30 days of receipt.

Liens have been placed on the lots of owners who are egregiously delinquent in paying their assessments.

Thanks to Johnathan Wright for continuing to assist with publication of the newsletter.

Please note that Rich DeWilde's office closes at noon on Fridays.
